In his early twenties, Jacob Miller founded the ragtime-inspired group Jacob Miller and the Bridge City Crooners. For the better part of a decade, the group were regulars in Portland clubs.
They released several albums, toured around the country, and racked up hundreds of thousands of views on YouTube, where Miller's take on traditional American music struck a nerve.
However, in 2017 the band decided to call it quits. As Miller told Vortex at the time, he found himself "in a new chapter of music writing and appreciation" and wanted to focus on "new music which leans toward guitar-driven singer-songwriter" sounds in the vein of Blake Mills and Margaret Glaspy.
Recorded in his southeast Portland home, Jacob Miller's debut solo album, "This New Home," comes out on June 6. Here, he performs the song "April Day" which was filmed by Banana Stand Media at The Iron Society barbershop.
Miller plays an album release show on June 7 in Portland, OR at Mississippi Studios along with Nick Delffs and Erisy Watt.
