We recenty caught up with Chicago supergroup The Sea and Cake while they were touring the west coast in support of their ninth and latest album, The Moonlight Butterfly. The band, which features Sam Prekop’s unique songwriting, singing and guitar work, guitarist Archer Prewitt, bassist Eric Claridge, and drummer (and indie-rock producer extraordinaire) John McEntire – joined us in the studio to play a few tracks from throughout their 20-year career as well as some from the new album.

KMHD's Matt Fleeger also talked to the band for this joint opbmusic/KMHD session about their history, the influence the Chicago scene has had on their sound, and their oddly consistent output.
