Studio Sessions
David Bazan is a man of refreshing candor. From his days fronting Pedro the Lion to his current work as a solo artist, Bazan has sustained an abillity to make plain his passions, protests, and fears through an indie rock vector. On his first solo album, Curse Your Branches, Bazan delved deep into himself with songs that denounced his Christian faith and condemned his critics. Bazan's latest record, Strange Negotiations, is a raw sounding and no less fiery quarrel with corporate greed and his own existential crises.

Bazan visited our studios with his touring band that features Andy Fitts playing bass and Alex Westcoat on drums. While their live show is nothing less than soaring power trio rock n' roll, the band played stripped down, acoustic versions of songs from Strange Negotiations in our studio that were meticulously tight and gorgeous. Bazan also opened up to us about the meaning of the album title Strange Negotiations, his ongoing relationship with his spirituality, and why he enjoys openly fielding questions from his audiences.
