The Wooden Birds in-studio, 6-4-09
Fans of the American Analog Set will instantly recognize the hushed croon and insistent rhythms of The Wooden Birds. Frontman Andrew Kenny released six albums with the former, the most recent coming in 2005. While that band isn't necessarily finished, his return with The Wooden Birds is perhaps the next logical step in an output that has always married the synthetic with the organic to produce sublime results. Kenny joined us with his new band for performances of songs from the recent Barsuk-issued debut, Magnolia, turning up the pace and the volume on songs whose recorded counterparts place them squarely within the confines of a late-night bedroom recording session.
