FBIn another universe, fairly similar to our own, another you is about to watch a video to a song by New Jersey’s Golden Bloom, involving a cardboard robot boy-band performing by a swimming pool. In this video, a drunk bikini girl spills her drink on one of the robots, short-circuiting him, at which point he leaves the band to do good deeds for others.

A few months ago, Fogel decided to raise money through Kickstarter to have her make a video for “Rhyme the Reason”, a track from his new EP, March to the Drums. After Rose scrapped the robot concept, she came up with a treatment based more on her percepion of Shawn, “a singer-songwriter with a heart of gold”, and one line from the song in particular: “caught in a lie”.

RoseShe met with Courtenay Hameister, Sean McGrath and Shelly McLendon of OPB’s Live Wire!, as well as Timmy Williams of IFC’s The Whitest Kids U'Know to develop and flesh out more ideas from her concept. The result is a superhero version of Fogel—The Guitarbiter of Truth”, busking in Peninsula Park, and then magically zapping people into better, or at least more honest, versions of themselves.

Keep your eyes out for appearances by Emily KatzLewi LongmireDave Depper, and Timmy Williams dressed in Courtenay Hameister-styled drag.

Also in the works from Rose is a video for Talkdemonic’s “City Sleep” from their forthcoming album, Ruins. In it, the band’s Lisa Molinaro plays a sleepwalker who astral-projects herself out of her body and over Mt. Hood to the high desert. The video will premiere at NW Film Center’s Reel Music 29, sponsored in part by opbmusic.
