Author Micheal Heald is the head of Portland-based Perfect Day Publishing, and Thursday night he will celebrate his forthcoming collection of essays on love, music and his experience of post-college life, Goodbye to the Nervous Apprehension.

With a nod of his head (more of a full bow, really) to the influence of Pavement and Stephen Malkmus' songwriting, the book release party will feature an evening replete with Pavement covers performed by members of bands such as the Fruit Bats, Point Juncture, WA, Velella Velella and many more at Backspace (115 NW 5th Street) tonight beginning at 7:30 p.m. It's free and open to all ages!
