Portland's biggest music festival, Music Fest NW, gets underway in just two weeks, September 8-12. It's 5 nights, dozens of bands including The National, The Decemberists, The Thermals, Menomena and many others, and 20 venues including outdoor shows for the first time at Pioneer Square. opbmusic is sponsoring Music Fest and we'll be there, at the Panda Bear show at the Crystal Ballroom the first night, Berbati's Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, and at the Kennedy School for the You Who kids' show featuring The Thermals on Sunday afternoon. We're also hosting studio sessions at OPB on 3 days, and a party Saturday afternoon at Mississippi Studios.
More details will be coming soon, but here's an early heads-up about what's in store and how you can get into the action:
Free festival passes and tickets: We have wristbands to give away, as well as tickets to the outdoor shows featuring The National and The Decemberists. Your first chance to win tickets is this weekend, Saturday night on OPB Radio during In House with Jeremy Petersen. Tune in from 8-11pm to find out how you can win.
Studio sessions 9/8, 9/9 and 9/10: We're setting up 3 days of studio recordings with bands in town for Music Fest. We'll have a very limited number of seats available for you to hear the bands in a very intimate setting, and see how we record our in-studio peformances. These will all be weekday afternoons during Music Fest at OPB's studios. Bands and times are to be announced soon, but if you want to get your name in the hat early, send an email to opbmusic@opb.org and let us know you want to be there.
Party at Mississippi Studios 9/11: We're setting up an indoor/outdoor event at Mississippi Studios on Saturday afternoon with music, food, and maybe a surprise or two. We're going to give out tickets at our opbmusic table during Music Fest. Find us at the Crystal Ballroom Wednesday night, or Berbati's Thursday and Friday nights. Be watching for other ticket info through Facebook and opbmusic.org
