What We Play

We do love the annual compilation from PDX Pop Now! and its two big handfulls of Portland music, stylistically all over the map, some familiar and not familiar names, and always a place to hear a few surprising bands you didn't know enough about. And again it's sitting at #1 on our list of most-played records this week. Arcade Fire's The Suburbs (not out officially until August but with a couple of early singles offered for download), The Black Keys, Portlanders Blitzen Trapper, and Deer Tick round out the top 5. New, unknown, and definitely worth a listen dept:  the quirky folk-pop record from Sea of Bees, Songs for the Ravens, #8 on our list.

Here's our newest chart:

The new compilation from PDX Pop Now! tops our playlist this week.  This year the 2-CD set includes songs from Blitzen Trapper, Menomena, Hockey, Y La Bamba, AgesandAges, and about 20 other Portland bands.

Blitzen Trapper's brand new full-length Destroyer of the Void also made our list of most-played records this week, along with The Black Keys, The National and The New Pornographers. Not to mention the impressive new music from Hillstomp, Darker the Night, which adds keyboards and ups the production for the popular Portland trance-blues duo.
