Frightened Rabbit / The Black Keys Hit the TV

It was a big night for music that matters last night on your television. It didn't involve semi-famous people dancing or unfamous people singing karaoke, but it did involve reality-- namely the reality of two of the best bands around these days working the late night circuit.

Our current in-studio session stars Frightened Rabbit made their U.S. television debut on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, and seemed even more amped up than usual if that's possible (actually there are tweets that confirm this). It was just one song, but the band still managed a show's worth of perspiration, which is only to say that they brought it in a big way. Compare and contrast with our session version: "Nothing Like You"...

The Black Keys, meanwhile, were over at Letterman's place, expanded to a quartet to play "Tighten Up" from the just-released and quite outstanding Brothers. The album debuted at #3 on the Billboard chart this past week, for what that's worth, which we're sure is something. The people are catching on, at long last. The Black Keys' October 4th date at the Crystal Ballroom is already sold out, by the way.

Letterman: "...that's it! That's what we're looking for right there!"

There's another chance to catch the band on the TV tonight-- they'll be on Fallon, presumably playing something different.
