It goes almost without saying that Annie Clark (aka St. Vincent) is a seriously talented artist. Her sophomore release Actor showcased intricately arranged compositions that put one foot in the avant-garde and the other firmly within pop conventions. The end result was a captivatingly unique listen that unsurprisingly ended up on many 2009 top ten lists. In addition to her own work, Ms. Clark has collaborated with indie-rock darlings Sufjan Stevens, The Polyphonic Spree and John Vanderslice. We don’t need to sell her talent, though. You know she rocks, we know she rocks and we're all excited that Ms. Clark and company will be stopping by the cozy Doug Fir this Saturday for not one but TWO shows.
While the St. Vincent records are probably best known for their elaborate and atypical arrangements, some of the best moments of these releases have come at their simpler moments when the spotlight is put on Clark’s effectual voice and creative poeticisms. This is part of the reason why the below video of Ms. Clark covering “Dig a Pony” late last year at the All Points West Festival is so amazing. Just her, a six-string and that precious voice, were pretty sure you’d be hard pressed to find a better rendition of this late Beatles' classic. Hell, it might even better than the original. We hope this gets you as excited for Saturday as it does for us.

That's a pretty great performance. Now I see what all the buzz for her is about. Soo, any reports from concertgoers? Did she live up to the expectations?
