SXSW Interview: Telekinesis

It's not necessarily a rare thing these days to hear a recording from a true "one man band." Talent, creativity, and a little affordable home technology have given rise to a whole generation of these artists, including lately names like Say Hi and The Love Language. Michael Benjamin Lerner's Telekinesis fits the bill, too, and the Seattle-based act's self-titled debut arrives April 7th on Merge full of pop hooks and produced by Chris Walla.

We caught up with Lerner backstage following his band's set for the Merge/Barsuk Showcase at last week's SXSW Festival in Austin and talked to him about expanding to a quartet for shows, singing drummers, and Metallica, among other things. Telekinesis plays the Doug Fir in Portland on May 15.
