Music Blog

Well here it is, the end of the year again, and with it the annual best-of lists as we all try to make sense of the musical 365(ish) days we just heard. But who cares what you think, right? We do! So what'd you dig? What couldn't you get enough of? Who in the class of 2010 was 2 kool 2 b 4gotten?
As before, whatever your criteria, whatever your tastes, we want your top ten choices for 2010. The rules are simple, but important: 1) We're talking new releases out in the calendar year 2010 (i.e. no reissues-- by this rationale, Springsteen's The Promise counts, but Exile On Main Street, Raw Power and Pinkerton do not). 2) Try to limit choices to full-length releases from individual artists-- no EPs or compilations (though you're certainly welcome to highlight any of those that caught your fancy in addition to the ten full-lengths on your list).
In our estimation, it was a pretty outstanding year for music both near and far, so we'll give you a bit of time to think on it-- we'll take your submissions up until Wednesday, December 22nd, crunch the numbers and present them back to you in a convenient audio/visual format at the end of the month. You can submit either in the comments below or via email to opbmusic@opb.org.
In the meantime, here are a few resources to help you jog the old memory. A lot happens in a year, after all. Here's last year's listener list, by the way, with the dearly departed Lala players removed (thanks, Apple).
Happy list-making!
